Alfred Cooksley was born in 1894 in Milverton, Somerset to William Lansdowne Cooksley 1851-? And Ann nee Thorne 1856-? He had four sisters and five brothers: Jane 1877-1960 m Charles George Haines 1876-1946, Mary 1882-?, Ellen 1886-?, Caroline 1890-? M Walter Hill 1890-?, William Michael 1878-1950 m Mary Elizabeth nee Dodge 1881-1966, Frank 1883-1935, Henry 1884-? And Tom 1889-1966 m Gladys Ellen nee Fuller 1889-?

Alfred married Florence Elizabeth Owen in quarter 4, 1916 in Wellington, Somerset. There appear to have been no children. Florence received £3 5s from the Government on 10 April 1919 and £3 on 12 December 1919.
Florence remarried in 1920 to Henry T Willmott.
